How to Beat 10K in Fun Mode on Desktop Tower Defense
"Desktop Tower Defense" (DTD) is a free flash-based game available online. Players work quickly to trap desktop invaders (creeps) in a maze of defensive towers. Since you are unable to completely block the board from their entry, strategy must be used to maximize the amount of time they spend lost in your maze. Fun Modes, introduced in version 1.2, add a new level of enjoyment for the casual DTD fan. Starting off with a preset board, 10K gold, or only one type of creep makes the game more suitable for a quick diversion from work.

10K Fun Mode in DTD 1.2
-
1
Start DTD version 1.2 or later in 10K fun mode. (When the game first opens select "fun" and "10K" from the menu.)
-
2
Use pellet and squirt towers to barricade the entrance. This will corral creeps into the upper-left corner.
-
-
3
Use towers to make rows across the board. Use a lot of pellet towers, since they deal the most damage. For every five pellet towers use one squirt tower; this ensures you will catch the fast creeps. Make sure to leave space near the middle of the board for swarm towers as these are most effective against aerial attack. Remember, you won't be able to completely block the path of the creeps; use your towers to make a series of hallways lined with guns. Do not fill the entire board; save 1K to 2K gold for later in the game.
-
4
Press "start." Upgrade the towers closest to the entrances and continue along the maze until you run out of money. (Examples of upgrades would be squirt towers becoming Typhoon towers, pellet towers becoming sniper towers, and so forth.)
-
5
Upgrade towers as you gain money. If you notice creeps making it more than halfway across your board, adjust the balance of towers in the maze. (For example, if you are overrun by flying creeps add more swarm towers.) Be sure to place a couple upgraded towers by both exits as insurance against escapees.
-
6
Press "send next level" if you notice your maze is effective. This will send in the next group of creeps and make the game a little more challenging to play.
