BellSouth provides a variety of different services, including a DSL Internet connection. While using the Internet connection you may run into a few issues here and there. If you do run into the problems you need to troubleshoot your connection in order to connect with your Internet service.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the connection between your adapter and the phone line port. There are cities throughout the BellSouth service area that require you to use this method instead of installing an Ethernet wall port, such as historic Savannah and Charleston. If the adapter is not completely inserted into the phone line port you are not going to receive an Internet connection.

    • 2

Look at the Ethernet cable running from the adapter into the DSL modem and the modem running into your computer. If the cable is loose the Internet signal does not reach your computer.

    • 3

Shut down your computer and restart it. Occasionally you may run into problems where other programs on your computer compete for the Internet signal and prevent your computer from accessing the BellSouth web service. Turn off your modem for a minute, then restart it. Let it cycle through for about one minute.

    • 4

Close out all of your Internet programs except for the Internet browser. If you have a slower Internet connection, you may not have enough bandwidth to completely connect to the Internet with multiple programs.

    • 5

Contact BellSouth. If you have an outstanding balance or if the company has not received your last payment, your Internet connection may have been turned off.
