How to Learn UNIX at Home
The Unix platform was invented in the 1960s and it is an operating system that operates on a command-based interface. Unix is known as a stable platform and is praised for its flexibility and reliability. Learning Unix at home will let you become familiar with program commands without feeling as if you have a corporate manager breathing down your back if you make a mistake. If you have a working knowledge of Unix, it will often make you a more valuable commodity in the workplace.

I've installed cygwin and vi onto my Windows laptop. I'd like to parse flatfiles eg. csv or world files stored in my C:/../Documents folder using vi. Is this possible?
