Use 1/4-inch ribbon to make ribbon boards.

A ribbon board is a padded, fabric-covered bulletin board with a ribbon lattice to hold your paper keepsakes. Craft a simple ribbon board to store photos, memos and keepsakes such as movie or concert tickets. Make a fabric-covered ribbon board with fabric to match your bedroom or dorm room decor. For example, use a matching pillow case from your bedding set for the fabric to create a ribbon board that matches your bedding.

Instructions

    • 1

Spray adhesive over the top of a 12-by-24-inch craft foam board. Place a 12-by-24-inch piece of quilt stuffing on top of the foam board. Press onto the glue and let dry for an hour.

    • 2

Place a 15-by-27-inch piece of fabric on your table or work surface, right side down. Flip the stuffing-covered foam board over, and center on top of the fabric so that there are approximately 3 inches of fabric all around the board.

    • 3

Pull each fabric border over the foam board. Duct tape the fabric into place on the back of the board. Turn the covered board back over.

    • 4

Place strips of 1/4-inch ribbon diagonally across the board. Cut the strips so that they hang over about 2 inches. Place strips of ribbon (also with a 2-inch overhang) diagonally across the first strips to create a lattice. Place one brass thumb tack into each crossing point in the lattice.

    • 5

Turn the board over. Pull each ribbon overhang over the back of the board. Duct tape the ribbon ends into place.

    • 6

Make two ribbon loops (for hangers) from two 4-inch pieces of ribbon. Secure the ribbon loops to the top of the back of the board with thumb tacks. Cover the thumb tacks with duct tape for an extra secure hold.
