How to Host a Euchre Tournament
Plan a simple euchre tournament for an evening of fun and excitement. Euchre is a card game played with four players at a table. Use only cards 9 through Ace in this trump-and-partner-based card game. With a score only going to ten per game, you can quickly play several games and determine an overall winner based on the scores of all games. Play several tables at a time so all guests play at once.
Things You'll Need
- Tables and chairs
- Standard 52 card deck of playing cards -- one per table
- Pen/Pencil for each table
- Bridge Tallies
- Score pad
- Trophy
- Snacks for each table
Instructions

1
Invite friends and family or fellow card players over for a night of fun with a euchre tournament. Multiples of four guests make for the easiest groupings of play since four players are involved in each game.
-
2
Purchase bridge tallies to determine the rotation of play. Bridge tallies randomly determine the round-robin style of play so each player partners with each party guest. According to Miss Hunt, tallies tell players who and where to play.
-
-
3
Purchase score cards or provide writing tablets for each player to keep track of everyone's points at the party.
-
4
Purchase snacks for players. Place snacks on the table prior to the game so players can munch while they play.
-
5
Start the party with a quick refresher course of the game. The refresher allows guests to understand the house rules for the night of card playing. Likewise, the refresher provides time for tardy guests to arrive and for those in attendance to mingle.
-
6
Hand out tallies, score pads and begin the tournament. Each player heads to their assigned table and partner.
-
7
At the end of each game, players shift to another table or partner to continue the tournament. Players keep track of their scores on the provided score pads.
-
8
Determine the winner and award the trophy.

Tips & Warnings
Have fun with the trophy. Depending on the atmosphere of the group, the trophy can be a recycled bowling trophy, or a gaudy item passed from winner to winner each year.
Matching decks of cards are not required. As long as each deck is complete, the cards do not need to match at each table.
Ask guests to wear funny hats or dress in Hawaiian shirts to create a lively atmosphere.
