DIY Humane Mouse Trap
Mice can be very dangerous pests when inside the house or other structures. These creatures can consume food meant for humans or pets, and their feces can contain dangerous salmonelloisis bacteria, which can cause food poisoning. A humane solution can keep this potentially dangerous pest at bay. There are many traps and other products out there, but there is a way to deal with these pests that does not involve starving them on a glue trap or putting dangerous poison in your home. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 5-gallon plastic bucket
- Drill
- Wire coat hanger
- Wire cutter
- Paper or Styrofoam plate
- Sticks
Instructions
-
-
1
Drill two small holes just under the rim of the bucket opposite from one another.
-
2
Cut the wire coat hanger so you have a straight section of wire a little longer than the opening of the bucket. Insert it into the drilled holes in the bucket.
-
-
3
Rest the plate upside down on the wire so one edge of the plate hangs over one edge of the bucket halfway between the drilled holes.
-
4
Poke holes with the end of the coat hanger through the plate about 1 inch from both edges that rest on the wire. Push the wire through one hole in the plate, over the bottom of it and through the second hole. Insert the wire back into the holes of the bucket.
-
5
Spread peanut butter on the edge of the plate that hangs over the bucket.
-
6
Rest a stick against the side of the bucket where the plate hangs over the edge. Place bedding and food for the mouse in the bottom of the bucket.
