How to Use Other Modems With Juno DSL

How to Use Other Modems With Juno DSL thumbnail
It is possible to use different DSL modems with your Internet connection.

Although most known for its dial-up Internet connection, Juno also offers DSL Internet. When using Juno for DSL, you may choose to use the provided DSL modem; however, this comes at with monthly fee. Instead, you can use your own DSL modem. However, when using your own modem, you are only able to access the Internet at the top speed your service is for--not what the top speed your DSL modem is for.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the first Ethernet cable into the wall port set up to bring the Internet connection into your home. Plug the opposite end of the cable into your own DSL modem.

    • 2

Plug the second Ethernet cable into one of the "Out" ports on the modem. Insert the other end of the cable into the "In" port on your computer.

    • 3

Connect the DSL modem to a power source and press the "Power" button to turn it on. Wait for all the lights to stop flashing on the modem before continuing.

    • 4

Open your Internet browser, then look for the HTTP address on your modem. Typically this is found either on the back or bottom of the modem.

    • 5

Type the HTTP into the Internet browser's URL bar, then press "Enter" and the activation page for your modem appears on the screen.

    • 6

Choose a username and password, then select "DSL" as the method of connecting to the Internet. Click "Save" and the modem activates. With the modem in place you may begin connecting to the Internet through your Juno service.
