How to Change the Oil in a Roketa Bali MC-13-150 Scooterthumbnail
Scooters area most cost-efficient when gasoline prices rise.

To get longevity out of the air-cooled 4-stroke engine of a Roketa Bali MC-13 150cc scooter, you must change the oil. These China manufactured scooters have the capacity to exceed 55 miles per hour. They offer a more affordable price point than some of the Japanese or Italian scooter models on the market, although they´re not as durable.

    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • Shallow drain pan
    • Latex gloves
    • 17-mm box-end wrench
    • Parts cleaner spray
    • Shop rags
    • Small funnel
    • 1 quart premium synthetic oil (5-W20 or 5-W30)
      • 1

Place the Roketa scooter on its center jack stand on a hard and flat surface.

      • 2

Place the shallow drain pan under the oil drain plug. The plug is located on the left lower side, under the scooter.

      • 3

Put on a pair of latex gloves to protect your hands.

      • 4

Unscrew the yellow colored oil dipstick and remove it. It's located above the oil drain plug.

      • 5

Use the 17-mm box-end wrench to turn the oil drain counterclockwise. Beware the plug has a small tension spring applied to it. This will make the oil plug jump off as soon as the last thread of the plug is unwound. The small mesh reusable filter is located inside the spring.

Allow the oil to drain thoroughly.

      • 7

Remove the filter from the tension spring and clean it thoroughly with parts cleaner spray, on a shop rag. Replace the filter into the spring and then place the spring back into the oil drain plug. The spring will give resistance so be sure to align the threads of the plug to the oil pan properly, and then tighten snugly with the wrench.

Place a small funnel into the oil fill hole or dipstick hole, and slowly pour the oil into the scooter. Common replacement quantity is .75 liters so it will not take a full quart. Allow the oil to drain down into the chamber, then check for fullness by inserting the dipstick and threading it all the way in, and then removing it again.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Roketa recommends the very first oil change be performed around 175 to 200 miles. After that, every 600 miles.

    • Check the oil about every 100 miles.
