How to Activate My Cingular SIM Card
Before you can start making and receiving phone calls or text messages from your Cingular phone you need to make sure that you have a SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card and that it is activated. Even though Cingular has merged with AT&T, activation is not a problem. AT&T will be able to activate your old Cingular SIM.

Take off the battery cover from the back of the phone and remove the battery. Insert the SIM card into the empty slot. Do not force the card into the slot.

Replace the battery and cover and turn on the phone. The phone should give you a message that says SIM activation is required.

Using another cell or a land-line phone, call AT&T customer service at 800-888-7600. They will be able to activate your SIM card. Alternatively, you can go to any AT&T retail store and they can assist you in activating the card.
