How to Get the Blinds Effect in PowerPoint thumbnail
Apply blind effects to one or more slides in Microsoft PowerPoint.

Microsoft PowerPoint includes inbuilt transition effects that you can apply to your slide show. The blinds effect is one of these transitions. It is similar to window blinds opening and closing. You can move the blinds horizontally or vertically in a slide show, and customize the speed, advancement and sound effect. The effect may be applied to one or more slides, or to elements within a slide as they enter or exit your page.

Instructions

  1. Add Blind Effects to Page

    • 1

Open the file you want to modify in PowerPoint.

    • 2

Select "View" and "Normal" from the toolbar.

    • 3

Choose the "Slides" tab from the left pane and click on the thumbnail of the slide you want to animate.

    • 4

Select "Slide Show" and "Slide Transition" from the toolbar. The "Slide Transition" task pane will open on the right.

    • 5

Select "Blinds Horizontal" or "Blinds Vertical" for the transition effect. Go to the "Modify transition" section of the task pane and pick the speed and sound you want to use.

    • 6

Go to the "Advance slide" section of the "Slide Transition" task pane and pick how you want the slide to advance---"On mouse click" or "Automatically after."

    • 7

Mark "AutoPreview" on the bottom of the task pane to see the animation in action. Then click on "Play." The effect will be added to the selected slide. To apply the blind effect to all your slides, choose "Apply to All Slides."

    Add Blind Effects to Elements

    • 8

Select the thumbnail of the slide you want to customize from the "Slides" tab on the left pane.

    • 9

Choose "Slide Show" and "Custom Animation" from the toolbar, or click on the drop-down (on top of the "Slide Transition" task pane) and select "Custom Animation" from the list.

    • 10

Go to your slide and select the element you want to animate. Then select the "Add Effect" button from the "Custom Animation" task pane. To add a blind effect to the element as it enters your page, choose "Entrance" and "Blinds." To apply the blind effect as the element leaves your page, choose "Exit" and "Blinds."

    • 11

Customize the blind effect you just added within the task pane by modifying the start options, direction and speed within the task pane.

    • 12

Use the "Re-Order" arrows (at the bottom of the task pane) to change the order of your animations. Then press the "Play" button.
