Unplug the washer from the power outlet. Remove the panel located on the top of the washer using a screwdriver to unsecure the screws. Once inside the panel, locate the timer to the right. Take note of how the wiring is set up before you disconnect them from the timer unit.

2
Push the wiring back into place if they have become loosened or disconnected. Avoid connecting and disconnecting the wiring by hand. Always use pliers to delicately replace wiring to the timer’s unit.

Set the timer’s scale VOM (volt ohm meter) to the RX-1 setting. Test the timer to see if it operates by touching its probes with the pliers' end, making sure that the VOMs switch reads “0.” If it doesn’t, more than likely the timer is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Replace the timer by disconnecting all the wires from the timer unit with pliers. Reinsert a timer designated only for the Whirlpool washer appliance. Replace the wire as noted before disconnection. Set the timer to the RX-1 setting before replacing the washer’s panel.
