Remove attachments in Outlook calendar without deleting appointments.

The Microsoft Outlook Calendar offers a number of features for streamlining your day-to-day activities, such as allowing you to categorize appointments, flag certain items and set reminders. Much like emails, the Outlook Calendar allows you to attach documents and other files to an appointment, using the "Insert" function in the appointment. This can be valuable in keeping relevant data easily accessible when preparing for an appointment. If the attachment is no longer necessary, removing it will save space on your computer and reduce cluttering your calendar.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Microsoft Outlook and select the calendar containing the attachments from the "Navigation Pane."

    • 2

Navigate to "View," select "Current View" and then "All Appointments." This will put the calendar into table view and allow you to see each appointment and organize them by fields, such as "Categories," "Recurrence Pattern" or by attachments (represented by a paper clip).

    • 3

Click on the attachment icon (paper clip) from the fields bar at the top of the display pane. This will sort your appointments and place those containing attachments at the top of the list.

    • 4

Open an appointment that contains an attachment. Click on the attachment and select "Delete" on your keyboard.

    • 5

Click "Save." This will delete the attachment without deleting the message.

Tips & Warnings

  • Microsoft 2007 users can elect to preview an attachment, allowing you to view the contents of the attachment quickly and easily.
