How to Convert a Power Point Presentation to Video

PowerPoint slideshows can be used in all sorts of situations that call for a visual presentation. Presentations, or slideshows, created in PowerPoint can play on their own, making them similar to movie files. The files are not technically movie files though, meaning that they cannot play in standard media players, like Windows Media Player or Apple's QuickTime Player. If you want to make PowerPoint presentations compatible with media players, you must convert the presentation files into video.

Instructions

    • 1

Download one of the media conversion applications that can read and convert PowerPoint files. Conversion applications with the ability to convert PowerPoint to video include AVS Video Converter, E.M. Free PowerPoint Video Converter and Moyea PPT to Video Converter.

    • 2

Install the media conversion application that you downloaded. To install any of the media converters, go to your "Downloads" folder and double-click the icon for the conversion program. Then, follow the onscreen instructions.

    • 3

Launch the media conversion application. Once it is installed, the application appears with the other programs on your computer and can be launched by going to "Start," "All Programs" and clicking on the name of the conversion application.

    • 4

Choose the video file type to which you would like to convert the PowerPoint presentation. In AVS, click the button that lists your chosen format at the top of the screen; in E.M. Free, click "Formats" and then on the format of your choice; in Moyea, click the arrow by "Style" and choose any format in the list.

    • 5

Click on the folder next to "Output File Name," "Default Output Folder" or "Output." Navigate to the folder on the hard drive to which you would like to save the converted file and click "OK" to set the new folder as the program's output folder.

    • 6

Press "Convert," "Convert Now" or "Start" in the conversion program. The PowerPoint presentation that you uploaded to the system converts into the video file format that you picked from the list of output formats. The file automatically saves into the output folder you selected.
