Quickly publish web pages using Microsoft IIS.

Short for Internet Information Services, Microsoft IIS provides web server functionality and a collection of feature extension modules. Though not enabled by default, all modern versions of the Windows operating system come with IIS preinstalled. As a result, it has become the web's second-most popular web server package, trailing only Apache. Because IIS is tightly integrated with the standard Windows interface, publishing web pages to the server is a very quick task. Once you know where to look, the process takes just a few clicks.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the folder containing the web page you want to publish.

    • 2

Right-click the page's file icon and select "Copy."

    • 3

Click the Windows "Start" button and select "Run."

    • 4

Enter the folder path associated with your IIS website files in the "Open" field and click "OK." Unless you changed the default setting, the files are located in the "C:\Inetpub\wwwroot" folder.

    • 5

Right-click within the newly opened folder and select "Paste." Your web page publishes to the IIS Web server immediately.
