How to Obtain Pennsylvania Divorce Records thumbnail
Get a copy of the divorce decree in Pennsylvania.

Divorce decrees are sometimes necessary for financial reasons as well as emotional. The most direct and accurate way to obtain this record is through the Pennsylvania Department of Health portal.

Instructions

    • 1

Log on to the Department of Health website for Pennsylvania (see Resources). On the left side of the homepage, click on "Birth and Death Certificates." Then click on "Marriage and Divorce Certificates."

    • 2

Contact the city or county the divorce took place in. Use the letter key near the top of the Web page for the names, addresses and phone numbers of the county courthouses.

    • 3

Request a copy of the divorce decree from the court where the divorce was filed. Make sure you have the names of at least one of the parties.

    • 4

Ask the contact person at the county how much the copy of the decree will cost. Send a money order for the amount. Expect it to take two to three weeks to receive the copy.
