A wish board is a collage of pictures on a poster board that represent things that you want to accomplish in your life or items you wish to own. It can contain pictures of your dream home, a healthy body, vacation destinations, a happy family, a new computer or a special career. Begin thinking of how you would like your future to look. Make a wish board to see your wishes, and make them come true. Wish boards can be a shared family project, business mission or a group activity. Wish boards are also known as vision boards or life maps.
Things You'll Need
- Poster board
- Rubber cement
- Picture of self
Purchase a foam-board or poster board. The size can vary from 8 ½ x 11 inches to 24 x 36 inches.
Cut pictures and words out of magazines. Look for pictures that spark your interest, such as a beautifully decorated home, a person walking in a fitness outfit, a field of flowers or a foreign country that you want to visit. Cut words and sentences out of the magazines that inspire you.
Use a marker to write affirmations on the board. A few sample affirmations are "I am happy and grateful now that I weigh ...," or "I am happy and grateful now that I have reached my goal of ...," or "I earn more money than I need."
Glue your pictures and words onto the board in random order. Place a picture of yourself on the wish board. Use rubber cement to keep the pictures from wrinkling.
Play inspirational music while working on your wish board. Think about what you want, and visualize yourself accomplishing your goals.
Hang your wish board in a place that you can see it every day. As you look at the wish board, reaffirm the dreams and goals that you want to achieve. Make it a habit to visualize your future.
Review your goals. Ask yourself questions about what you need to do or change to accomplish your goals. Add more pictures to the wish board as your life grows.
