How to Get Rid of Spam Junk Mail

Junk email can be annoying and take up valuable disc space.

Junk email, or spam, is a frustrating facet of regular Internet use. Modern native email software has been developed with junk mail in mind, providing increasingly sophisticated protection against unwanted messages. Junk email is usually stored in dedicated folder within the application and can be cleared by the user. Clearing junk mail stored on your system is simple and should not take more than a minute or so.

Removing Junk Email in Microsoft Outlook

1. Start Microsoft Outlook and use the left menu bar to scroll to the "Junk Mail" folder.

2. Quickly scan through the folder to make sure there are no important emails accidentally placed among the junk messages.

3. Right click the "Junk Mail" folder from the left menu bar.

4. Select "Empty Junk Email Folder."

5. Click "OK" if Microsoft Outlook asks if you are sure. The junk emails will now be deleted.

Removing Junk Email in Apple Mail

1. Start Apple Mail and select the "Junk" folder from the left menu bar.

2. Quickly scan through the folder to make sure there are no important emails accidentally placed among the junk messages.

3. Hold down the "CTRL" key and click anywhere within the left hand menu.

4. Click "Erase Junk Mail" to delete junk messages from your computer.
