1
Paint walls a rustic stucco type color. You can try a sunset orange, rich brown or warm yellow. You can also give walls that textured stucco look that is classic in Mexican décor by applying stucco to walls prior to painting. For a clay brick feel, use a rectangular sponge and rust red paint to do a brick effect.

Throw some brightly colored woven rugs on the floor for floor decor. You can usually find some hand woven rugs at most flea markets or home décor stores. Stick with classic Mexican-themed colors of warm yellows, reds and oranges, paired with rich turquoise or a navy blue. Try matching rugs so they can tie the room together. You can even purchase a few rugs of different colors than your floor rugs to use as wall hangings.

Purchase furniture that is made of thick wood pieces and try and stick with a darker finish on the wood. If wood is too light, simply sand it down and re-stain it a dark shade yourself. You can also try wrought iron pieces, or for the outdoors, dark wicker furniture. Again, for cushions stick with your color scheme of yellows, oranges, reds, and blues and turquoise.

Decide how you want to incorporate tiles, very popular in Mexican décor, into your room. You can do your floor with festive Mexican tiles; or for a cheaper idea you can place a few accent tiles on walls, or cover a table top, such as a coffee table or an end table, with them.

Purchase wall hangings for your room or space. You can use hand woven rugs, tapestries or paintings of Mexican landscapes by Mexican artists. Wrought iron wall pieces are also a fun idea you can try, and work especially well if you've also incorporated wrought iron furniture.

Find decorative pieces that stick with your Mexican color scheme. Stick with clay pieces, or woven wicker pieces for your home. You can even fill pieces, like a wicker basket, with various fruits that reflect Mexico, like guava or avocados.

Add some hanging floral pieces to your area, be them fake or real. Stick with bright flowers like zinnias or marigolds, or even some brightly colored orchids that will drape down.
