Instructions

    • 1

Choose the free journal program that works for you. Many journal programs are similar in nature. A journal program is often a simple text editor that includes a built-in calender and an interface that mimics a real journal.

    • 2

Download the journal you want to install. You can download your journal by visiting a website that carries the journal and clicking on the download link. If your computer asks where you would like the download to go, click the location browser and browse to the location where you want your installation program to go. Downloading it to the desktop is a good idea. From there, it's easy to delete the installation program after you've installed your journal.

Double click the downloaded file with your mouse. The set-up process will begin and walk you through a standard Windows installation. If you are new to installing software, click next to accept standard installation options. While some program installations vary slightly, all Windows programs have a "Next" or "Continue" button to allow you to move smoothly through the installation process without making a mistake.

Open your journal software after the installation is complete. You will find it located on your "Start" menu under a folder named after the software or the name of the company from whom you downloaded it. You may also find an icon for the program on your desktop that will give you a shortcut to the program.

Delete the original installation file from your desktop by left clicking with your mouse on the installation file and holding the button down as you drag the file to your recycle bin.

Tips & Warnings

  • Some installations allow you to select a different install location. Always go with the installer's default location unless you know what you are changing and why.
