Instructions

    • 1

Purchase cups and saucers or just tea cups. It may be more cost effective to buy an entire set. You can spend around twenty dollars at Target and get a set of 6 cups and saucers. For a less expensive option, find mismatched mugs at thrift shops such as the Salvation Army or antique stores.

    • 2

Fill the cups with age-appropriate favors. For adults, try two or three specialty tea bags, such as rose-scented Lychee tea or an herbal blend of chamomile and spearmint tea, with an elegant tea spoon. Add a couple of fragrant tea-light candles. Give tea-themed items such as a teapot-shaped notepad or bookmark. Special candies such as Jordan almonds or tea cookies such as chocolate biscuits (English term for cookie) or shortbread (purchased at most grocery stores) are another option. For children, fill the cups with fake jewelry, stickers, lip gloss, or gum and candy.

    • 3

Cut a piece of colored cellophane or tulle large enough to wrap both the cup and saucer. Set the teacup in the center of the paper or tulle and bring the sides of the wrapping up, gathering the ends and tying them with ribbons on top of the teacup or mug.

Tips & Warnings

  • Tie a pretty bow to each teacup handle for a dainty touch.
