How to Find a Florida Notary

How to Find a Florida Notary thumbnail
Use the Florida public database to search for a commissioned notary.

Use the Florida commissioned notary public database search to locate a Florida notary. Because notary commission information is open record in Florida, the Florida secretary of state provides this information via a search portal on its website. Use this tool to locate a notary in your zip code or to check the status of a specific notary. The database provides information for all notaries licensed in Florida in the last five years, regardless of commission status.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to the Florida Department of State website at www.dos.state.fl.us.

    • 2

      Click on "Corporations" under "Divisions."

    • 3

Select "Notaries" from the available links.

    • 4

      Click "Notary Search."

    • 5

Enter the information you want to search by: notary ID, last name, first name, commission number or zip code. The results screen will display the information closest to your parameters.

Search the results to find the notary you want. The results give you the name, date of birth, notary ID, commission number, expiration date, bond agency ID and the notary's address.

    • 7

Click on a name to get specific details regarding the status of the notary's commission.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have any questions regarding the notary search database, contact the Division of Corporations at 850-245-6000; or email it at corphelp@mail.dos.state.fl.us.

  • Email addresses are considered public record in Florida. Do not email the Division of Corporations if you do not want your email address accessible to the public.
