Divorce is never easy.

Divorce records in Pennsylvania are filed at the County Court where the divorce became final. If your divorce was finalized in Philadelphia, you will be able to obtain your divorce record from the local Family Court in the city. The person in charge of the divorce records at the County Courthouse is known as a prothonotary, or principal clerk of the court. Only the two parties involved in the divorce and the attorneys of record are able to access your divorce record.

      Write a certified check or money order for $30 made out to "Prothonotary," or pay a $30 cash fee for the divorce record.

      Call 215-686-3805 to arrange to review your divorce record.

      Go to the Clerk of the Family Court to get a certified copy of your divorce record. The Clerk's office is located at 1133 Chestnut Street, 1st floor, Philadelphia, PA 19107. The hours are 8:30 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday. Be sure to bring your $30 fee in the form of cash, money order, or certified check, as personal checks are not accepted. Be sure to bring a form of photo identification with you when you go to view or get a copy of your divorce decree.
