The Euro Symbol

When you're using a desktop computer, you can enter special symbols by holding the "Alt" key and entering the numeric code associated with the symbol on the keyboard's numeric keypad. Because most laptops do not have a numeric keypad, a different method must be used to enter special symbols such as the Euro symbol. In Windows, the Euro symbol can be accessed from the Character Map and subsequently entered into the document using keyboard commands.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the Start menu and click "All Programs." Click "Accessories," then "System Tools" and finally "Character Map."

    • 2

Choose your font from the drop-down box at the top of the screen. Scroll through until you locate the Euro symbol (€). Click on the Euro symbol to load it into the "Characters to Copy" field.

    • 3

Click "Copy" to copy the Euro symbol to the computer's clipboard.

    • 4

Navigate to the location where you would like the Euro symbol to appear. Right-click on the insertion point and click "Paste." Alternatively, you can press "Ctrl" and "V" to insert the character.

Tips & Warnings

  • Some laptops will allow the insertion of the Euro symbol by pressing "Ctrl," "Alt" and "E."
