Many people and organizations like to have their own newspaper, either for news about their community or about their business. If you want to create a basic newspaper for print or for posting on the Internet and you don't have a program like QuarkXPress, you can use Photoshop. Creating a newspaper using Photoshop requires careful planning and organization to make it work. But done properly, you can create a high quality result.

Step 1

Load any images that you would like to use for the first issue of your newspaper onto your computer. Name them topically so you will know what they are and append a date to the end of the name. Save them all to the same folder.

Step 2

Open Photoshop. Select "File" from the menu an choose "New." In the dialog that appears, choose whether you want to make the measurement units inches or pixels (inches are better for printing). Then enter the height and width you want. Name the document "Page 1" and append the date. Click "OK."

Step 3

Select the "Rectangular" selection tool from the tools on the left. Use it to select an area to be a section on the first page. Then select "Edit" and choose "Stroke." In the dialog that appears, set the line width to 1 or 2 pixels. Click "OK."

Step 4

Select the "Type" tool from the tools on the left. Use it to draw a text box inside the bordered section and then type in your story text, using the font of your choice. Be sure that you leave room at the top for any photo you want to add.

Step 5

Select "File" and click "Open." Browse to a photo (if any) that you would like to use for the article and open it. Right click on the layer and choose "Duplicate Layer." Make the "Destination" the "Page 1" document.

Step 6

Repeat Steps 3 through 5 to create all the articles for the page. Then use the "Type" tool to add the banner name, date and page number at the top of the page.

Step 7

Repeat this process to create all the pages of your newspaper. Save your work.
