How to Find Tax ID of Federal Agencies

Government agencies such as the EPA are issued tax identification numbers that are easily found on the Internet.

A federal Tax ID number, or Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN), is a nine digit number issued to individuals, businesses, organizations and government entities by the Internal Revenue Service or Social Security Administration. Basically, anyone who needs to pay taxes must have a TIN. A type of TIN is the Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN), which is issued to government agencies such as the United States Postal Service, the Census Bureau and the Central Intelligence Agency. These numbers are public and easy to find on the Internet.
