How to Turn on Javascript in IE7

Javascript is a Web scripting language that helps make websites interactive for users, according to Devx.com. If you have Javascript disabled in your IE7 web browser, some pages might not work for you. The solution to this is enabling Javascript. You can enable Javascript for all sites, or you can enable it for one or a handle of sites.

Instructions

    • 1

Open IE7. Click on the arrow underneath the "Tools" icon in the upper-right corner of the window. Choose "Internet Options" from this menu. Alternatively, you can open "Internet Options" within the control panel. If you are using Windows Vista or 7, click on "Network and Internet" to view this option.

    • 2

Click on "Security" within the Internet Options menu. This is the second tab along the top of the menu box.

    • 3

Click on the button marked "Custom Level." Scroll nine-tenths of the way down the page. Look for the heading marked "Scripting."

    • 4

Check "Enable" under the sub-heading marked "Active Scripting." Click "Ok" to turn on Javascript in IE7. Click "Refresh" or restart Internet Explorer.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you only want to allow Javascript on a few sites, leave the check next to "Disable" in the "Custom Level" menu. Click on the "Trusted Sites" button, and then click "Sites." Type the full URL of the site(s) you want to enable Javascript on. Click on "Custom Level" and place a check next to "Enable" under "Active Scripting" within the trusted sites menu. Click "Ok." This enables Javascript only on the specified sites.
