DIY Hanging Vegetable Baskets
Urban dwellers do not have to forgo gardening. Using hanging vegetable baskets allows them to garden to their heart's content while eating healthier. There are a variety of options available for hanging baskets to grow vegetables. Making them can be rewarding and allows you to create them to your needs and specifications. Things You'll Need
- Empty 2-liter bottle (or bigger)
- Container covering
- Hot nail or drill
- Hole cutter
- Knife
- Duct tape

Cut a two inch hole on the side of a bottle that is at least the size of 2 litres with a knife or hole cutter. Doing this will help you add soil and also provide an easy way to water the plant.

Drill a hole in the bottom of the bottle that matches the diameter of the eye bolt. Thread the bolt into the bottle.

Cover the planter with color or duct tape. This will allow the planter to retain temperature better and be more aesthetic. Kids can optionally decorate the planter.

Tips & Warnings
Bigger containers will retain moisture better and dry out less. Smaller containers will require more frequent watering. Use a soil mix that allows for good water retention, such as a mix of two parts WonderSoil, one part and one part perlite and Groden granulates. Tomatoes and peppers are great choices for hanging baskets.
