How to Record an MSN Chat

Chat with friends using MSN Messenger.

The Microsoft MSN Messenger provides people with the ability to communicate with friends and family over the Internet. The MSN Messenger program runs on a Windows desktop, and sits in the system tray while awaiting chat sessions. You can log these chat sessions using the MSN Messenger options. Logging sends the text from both you and your friend to a text file on the hard drive. This is used to read your chat messages in the future.

Instructions

1. Click the "Show" menu button located on the top-right side of your MSN chat window. In the menu displayed, click "Tools" then "Options."

2. Click "Messages" on the left side of the options window. Down at the bottom, check the box labeled "Automatically keep a history of my conversation."

3. Click "Apply" to save your settings. Click "OK" to close the options window. Your chat sessions are saved to the hard drive in a text document.
