How to Make Adult Princess Costumes thumbnail
Making adult princess costumes can be easy.

Princess costumes are a popular choice for adult women who may be going to a Halloween get together or a dress-up party. Instructions

    • 1

Tie a sash at the bust of a plain, floor-length dress, creating an empire waist reminiscent of princess gowns. The dress and sash can be any color, but jewel tones like scarlet, emerald and purple have an extra royal feel.

    • 2

Staple some tulle at each shoulder of the dress. Make sure the tulle hangs down to the wrists, giving it the look of a Renaissance gown.

    • 3

Roll a 16-inch square of craft foam into a cone and staple the edges in place to secure. Staple leftover tulle at the peak of the cone so that it hangs down the back. Staple one end of a piece of elastic to one side of the bottom of the cone, and staple the other end of the elastic to the opposite underside of the cone, so the headpiece will stay on the wearer's head.

    • 4

Attach a small foam ball to the top of a 12-inch wooden dowel using super glue, making the shape of a princess scepter. Spray paint the scepter with gold paint. Let dry.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use contrasting colors for the dress and tulle to make the costume pop.

  • Choose accessories like shoes and jewelry that have extra embellishments like beads and sequins.

  • Make sure to use enough staples on the tulle sleeves so the seams don't come apart.

  • Make sure the dress isn't too long, so the wearer doesn't trip.
