How to Improve Your Pronunciation
No matter what language you are learning, it can be difficult to master the pronunciation. We are influenced by our own native tongue as how to pronounce groups of letters. There might be some sounds we need to learn which don't even occur in our native language. Since the need for correct pronunciation occurs when we need to speak the language, the best way to improve pronunciation skills is by listening.

1
Watch movies and television programs in the language you are learning. If possible, pay close attention to the speakers lips as they say each word. Good programs to watch are news programs as the speaker usually is speaking slowly and clearly and facing the camera.
-
2
Learn how to stress a word. Words of several syllables will typically have a stress on one syllable. Some languages might stress the first syllable while other languages might typically stress the last.

-
3
Listen to books on tape. Obtain both the tape and the book. Follow the text in the book while listening to the tape.
-
4
Buy a dictionary, checking first that it has an International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) table. Learn the IPA symbols and sounds. Study the IPA description of the sound given with each word in the dictionary.
-
5
Practice the sounds which give you the most trouble by matching up similar sounding pairs. For instance, if you have trouble with the English "r" and "l", practice pairs like "roll" and "loll" or "rink" and "link."
