How to Analyze a Web Page
You can measure the strength of a retail website by determining how much traffic---or visitors---the site gets. One way of measuring traffic is to learn a scientific method known as site usage measurement, which computes variables such as number of visitors and how long each one spends at the site on weekdays and on weekends. A simpler approach to calculating usage is to use a stat counter such as Google Analytics to analyze the web page for you.
Instructions

1
Open your web browser. In the URL field, type the URL of a stat counter. Follow the instructions for setting up a new account.
-
2
Open the HTML editor at your web host's site. Open the file for your home page. Paste your embed code between the <body> and </body> tags. Save and close the page.

3
Test your page in a web browser to make sure the code is not visible. If you can see the code, or if the page displays incorrectly, go back in to the file for your home page in your HTML editor. Remove the code you added. Recopy and paste your embed code, making sure you have selected the code in its entirety.

The following day, return to the stat counter site. Navigate to your account. See if the site is recording stats for your website. If it is not, wait another day. If you still see no results, consult the documentation for the stat tracker or try reentering your code.

Once the stat counter works for your web page, analyze your "hits," or page views, over a period of several weeks. This will reveal trends that you can use to make changes to your page, if needed.

Tips & Warnings
It will take 24 to 48 hours for your stat counter to begin tracking traffic at your website.
When registering for a stat counter, make sure you enter the URL exactly as it appears on your home page.
