Ready for a trip to Germany? Or maybe you're just eager to learn a new language. Either way, it's helpful to know a few basic words and phrases. When you're ready to bid someone adieu in German, say "auf Wiedersehen."
Alternatives to Auf Wiedersehen
Auf Wiedersehen means "until we see each other again," or "here's to seeing each other again." No one will fault you for saying it, but it's used mostly in formal situations and with acquaintances. For people you're close to, you can use the more casual "Tschüss," which means "bye," or simply "Wiedersehen," which means "see you again."
