How to Uninstall the Ask Toolbar on Firefox

If you use Mozilla Firefox as your Internet browser, you can customize Firefox by installing add-ons, such as the Ask toolbar. If you've installed the Ask toolbar on Firefox and no longer use it, you can remove the toolbar by uninstalling the add-on. You only need to open Firefox to get started.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Firefox and select "Tools" from the top menu.

    • 2

Select "Add-ons" from the menu. The Add-ons window will open; click the "Extensions" tab to view a list of your Firefox add-ons.

    • 3

Select the Ask.com add-on and then click the "Uninstall" button beside it.

    • 4

Click "Uninstall" when a window pops up asking if you are sure that you want to uninstall the Ask toolbar. The toolbar will begin uninstalling. You will be notified when the uninstall is complete.

    • 5

Restart Firefox after uninstalling the Ask toolbar.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can disable an add-on instead of uninstalling it if you think you might want to use it later. Open the Add-ons window again, select the Ask toolbar and click "Disable". The Ask toolbar will be gone until you enable it.
