How Do I Get My Sonar 6 to Record Sound on My Computer?

Sonar 6 is an audio recording utility for Windows-based computers. It allows you to use an external audio recording device like a microphone or MIDI keyboard to record audio files onto your computer. In order to get your copy of Sonar 6 to record sound on your computer, you have to make sure that your audio device is properly hooked up and that your computer is properly configured for the recording of sound.

Instructions

1. Verify that your audio recording device is hooked up correctly. Whether you are using something like a MIDI keyboard or a standard microphone, the audio cable that runs off of such a device should be plugged into the "Microphone" input on your computer's sound card. Your computer's sound card is accessible from the rear panel of its case.

2. Right-click on the "Speakers" icon in your system tray.

3. Click on "Recording Devices."

4. Right-click on "Microphone" and click "Enable." Your computer will now be properly configured to record sound from your attached audio recording device.

5. Open Sonar 6 (via the "Start" menu) and click on the "Record" button. Sonar 6 will now record sound on your computer via the attached audio device that you have previously configured.
