Defense of the Ancients (DotA) is a third-party modification for Blizzard's Warcraft 3. Since it operates using the Warcraft 3 engine, it retains the default control scheme.
Being able to change camera angles is mostly a convenience to be enjoyed by the player; it provides multiple perspectives through which you can observe the game.
The feature poses a problem when the camera angle is changed in the middle of a game and the player is unaware of how it's manipulated.
Start a game of DotA.
Use your mouse wheel to make the camera zoom in or out.
You may also use the "Page Up" and "Page Down" keys on your keyboard to achieve the same effect.
Press the "Insert" key to rotate the camera 90 degrees to the left, or the "Delete" key to rotate it 90 degrees to the right.
Letting go of a key will cause the camera to snap back to its original position.
