How Do I Investigate a Person? thumbnail
Use online tools to snoop on people.

A prospective employee may look good on paper and in the interview, but what about their past? That person you're attracted too might look good at first sight, but they might be hiding something ugly. The most effective way to find out is to investigate the person and see their past.

Instructions

    • 1

Use a people search engine such as Zabasearch or Intellius. These engines search publicly accessible data to find a person's full name, address, phone number, age and email address. Note that not all information may be present in a record.

    • 2

Use the NetDetective service to investigate the person. NetDetective allows you to perform a range of services such as a reverse phone lookup, police record retrieval and background checks. A fee per year is required.

    • 3

Use the GovRegistry search site to find public information on the person. In addition to searching for public information, you do background checks and search criminal records. There is a fee to use these features. However, seeing if someone is in the records is free.

Tips & Warnings

  • You may want to perform a search on yourself to see what comes up.

  • Do not use this for stalking others or attempting to gain information to use illegally.
