How to Make a MySpace Music Layout on Photoshop thumbnail
Create custom MySpace music layouts with Photoshop.

MySpace musicians in need of a creative, custom background can make their own layouts using Adobe Photoshop. The musician or site designer can completely customize the look of their layout with minimal work. After the design is finished, the user needs only to use a layout coder designed for MySpace.

Instructions

    • 1

Begin a new document in Photoshop. Under the "File" menu, select “Create New Document.” For document size, set to pixels and enter “1024 x 768.” Check “Transparent” for the color. A little experimentation may be necessary to get the proper sizing, as all monitors and browsers differ in their dimensions.

Create the layout once your document is properly sized. Photoshop comes with a set of paintbrushes, or you can download brushes for free at various websites (see Resources). Use brushes, filters, and other special effects in Photoshop to create the design you want. The filter gallery is especially useful for quickly adding effects to an image. To access, go to the menu bar and select "Filter">"Filter Gallery". Here you can select cartoon, paint, and texture effects among many other options which, once clicked on, are instantly applied to your image.

Upload the layout to an image hosting site (i.e. Flickr, DeviantArt, or Photobucket). Create a new account or log in to your existing one. Once you are signed in, select the upload photos by clicking the "Upload Photos" button. Placement for the button will vary from site to site but it's usually a large colored button. Once your layout is uploaded, you will see a list of links below it. Copy the one that says "Direct Link".

Open a new window on your browser and paste the link for the MySpace Layout Generator (see Resources) in the URL bar. Once the generator page has loaded, paste the photo link you copied in step 3 into the "Background Image" field. In the "Background Position" section, select the centered box. Choose “none” for background repetition. Select “generate layout.” An HTML code will appear. Copy it.

    • 5

Log on to your music MySpace profile. Under “edit profile”, navigate to your band’s “bio” section. Paste the HTML code into any part of this section. Preview and/or save your changes if pleased. Experiment with the code generator options such as the background position, and repeat options if you feel your layout needs adjusting.
