Homemade Cleaner for an LCD Screen

Save money by making your own LCD screen cleaner.

Liquid crystal display (LCD) screens are used on a variety of electronics, such as digital cameras, computers, calculators and televisions. Fingerprints and dust are noticeable on these flat-panel display screens, so they must be cleaned frequently. Cleaning LCD screens properly is important to preserving the integrity of the screen. Products are sold at most electronics stores for cleaning LCD screens; however, a homemade LCD cleaner is just as effective for cleaning the screen.

Things You'll Need

• Empty spray bottle
• Filtered water
• Isopropyl alcohol (100 percent)
• Soft cloth

Instructions

1. Rinse out an empty spray bottle to put your homemade cleaner in. Make sure to thoroughly rinse out the bottle so no traces of previous ingredients are left inside.

2. Fill the bottle halfway with filtered water. Do not use tap water, because it has impurities that could damage the LCD screen.

3. Fill the bottle the remainder of the way with 100 percent isopropyl alcohol. Shake the bottle well to combine the ingredients.

4. Spray the LCD screen cleaner onto a soft cloth and wipe the screen with it.
