Things You'll Need

  • Water
  • Saucepan
  • Liquid dishwasher detergent
  • Soft cleaning brush or baby bottle brush
  • 3 tbsp. baking soda (optional)
  • White vinegar (optional)
  • Rag (optional)

      Empty the contents of the coffee pot. Rinse out the pot with warm water.

      Fill the coffee pot with water. Pour the water into a saucepan. Place the pan on the stove and bring the water to a boil.

      Put a few drops of liquid dishwasher detergent into the coffee pot while you are waiting for the water to boil. Then pour the boiling water carefully into the coffee pot. Let the mixture sit in the metal coffee pot overnight.

      Scrub the inside of the pot with a soft cleaning brush. A baby bottle brush will work well if the hole is small and you cannot fit your hand inside of the coffee pot.

      Discard the soapy water and rinse out the pot thoroughly with warm water.

      Let the coffee pot air-dry completely.

  • Wash the coffee pot with a solution of 1 qt. of warm water and 3 tbsp. of baking soda for an alternative cleaning method. Scrub the pot with a dish or bottle brush and the baking soda solution. Rinse the pot thoroughly with warm water and allow it to air-dry.

  • Remove water spots from the outside of your metal coffee pot by cleaning it with a rag and white vinegar.
