How to Fix Registry Errors in Windows XP

Your Windows XP registry contains information about the operating system, software and hardware on your computer, making it a fairly important place. Fixing errors in the registry is accomplished through the System Restore utility, which takes periodic snapshots of the system registry and other settings, allowing you to restore them to their previous state in the event of problems.

Instructions

1. Click "Start," "Programs," "Accessories," "System Tools" and "System Restore."

2. Click "Restore my computer to an earlier time."

3. Select a date prior to the point when the registry error manifested.

4. Press "Next" to restore your computer, fixing the registry error.
