Shuffle up and deal.

Euchre is a trick-taking card game played with four players in teams of two. The simplest way to set up a euchre tournament is by deciding on teams, and then creating a single elimination tournament bracket. While this is an easy setup, some players may not enjoy the tournament based on the abilities of their teammate. In order to ensure that the best player wins the tournament, rather than the luckiest team, you should use a progressive euchre tournament style. In progressive euchre tournaments, every player is partnered with every other player exactly once throughout the tournament. The single person with the most points at the end of a progressive euchre tournament is the winner.

Instructions

    • 1

Determine the number of players that will be involved in the tournament. Progressive euchre tournaments work best with a multiple of four players, so that no one is left waiting while the others play.

    • 2

Divide the number of players by four to determine the number of tables and decks of cards that will be needed. If there are eight or more players involved in the tournament, more than one game can be played at a time.

    • 3

Assign a number to each player.

    • 4

Set up a scorecard in which every player plays on every other player's team exactly once. For example, in a four-player tournament, players 1 and 2 will play against players 3 and 4 first. Then players 1 and 3 will play against players 2 and 4. Then players 1 and 4 will play against players 2 and 3.

    • 5

Play the games with the teams as they are listed on the scorecard. If you have eight or more people, then more than one game can be played at the same time.

    • 6

Record the number of points your team scored in the appropriate column on the scorecard after each game.

    • 7

Total the points scored by each of your teams after all the games have been played. The single person that has the highest total score from every game at the end of the tournament is declared the winner.
