How to Make Your Own Christmas Stocking Kits

Stocking kits are inexpensive and appropriate when you need gifts for a large number of children. They make clever cast gifts for the participants in a children's holiday play. For a family gift, make kits which include red stockings, one large green tree-shaped felt cutout and lots of different shaped sequins for tree decorations. When the kits are made up, the family will have a set of matching stockings which showcase each person's individual decorating style.

Things You'll Need

• Felt stockings
• Felt
• Small plastic bags
• Sequins
• Glitter

Instructions

1. Type and print the instructions, which should read:
   Stocking Kit Instructions
   1. Write your name at the top of the stocking with glue.
   2. Sprinkle glitter over the glue and shake off any excess glitter.
   3. Glue the felt shapes to the stocking
   4. Decorate your stocking with sequins and more glitter.

2. Cut out holiday shapes from felt. Good shapes are toys, trees, angels, packages and ornaments.

3. Pour 2 tablespoons of glitter into a small plastic bag.

4. Put an assortment of sequins in another small plastic bag.

5. Put the felt shapes, instructions and bags of glitter and sequins in the stockings. This makes a festive presentation that does not require wrapping.

Tips & Warnings

• You may include small bottles of glue if your budget allows.

• Kits for older children or adults could include 1/2-yard of felt and a stocking pattern instead of the pre-made stocking.

• Not appropriate for children younger than 3 due to small parts.
