How to Tie a Fishing Hook Loop
Attaching a fishing hook to the line is something that a fisherman does often. Learning to tie the correct fishing knots is essential and will enable you to catch more fish. Attaching the hook to the fishing line requires a certain type of knot. A faulty knot will most likely result in lost fish and disappointment.

1
Insert the end of the fishing line through the eye of the hook using your hands. This may require a couple of attempts, depending on how steady your hands are. Extend the line through the eye of the hook approximately 2 inches.
-
2
Insert the opposite side of the leader through the eye of the hook in the opposite direction. This should be pointing toward the barb of the hook.

3
Grasp the hook and the leader ends using your thumb and finger. This will allow the leader to hang in a large loop below the fishing hook.
-
4
Wrap the large lower loop over the shank of the hook and both ends of the leader. Wrap it around the shank of the hook seven to eight times. Apply steady pressure on each loop with your left hand so the loops remain tight.
-
5
Grasp the end of the leader that is threaded through the eye of the hook with your right hand and pull the end slowly toward you until the knot is hand-tight. Slide the knot against the eye of the hook. Slightly jerk the line to ensure the knot is tight.
