1
Purchase water-repellent spray at a grocery store, drug store or hardware store. One brand of water-repellant spray is ScotchGuard. Read the label of the stain repellent to make sure it can be used on the type of material that the shoe is made from.
-
2
Place a layer of old newspaper on a table in a well-ventilated area or outside. Set the shoes on the newspaper.
-
-
3
Use a soft cloth or a soft brush to brush all dirt and debris from the shoes.
-
4
Pick up a shoe in one hand and use the other hand to spray an even, thin coating of the stain repellent spray all over the shoe. Hold the stain repellent about 6 to 12 inches away from the shoe while spraying.

Repeat with the other shoe.

Set the shoes down on the newspaper to dry. Allow to dry for at least 24 hours. If drying the shoes outside, check the weather forecast to make sure it will not rain or snow on the shoes. If there is moisture in the forecast, dry the shoes inside.
