How to Draw a Five Pointed Star With a One Point Perspective
Geometry is a fun activity that can be used to create many fascinating shapes and designs. Even by limiting your drawing activities to working with two-dimensional space, there are a lot of creative projects that can be undertaken to create innovative graphics or logos. Drawing a five-pointed star using a compass, protractor and straight edge is a relatively simple exercise that can lead to more ambitious undertakings.

The Drawing
-
1
Draw a circle on a piece of paper using a drafting compass and a pencil. Make sure the circle is complete and evenly drawn. Mark the center point with a pencil.
-
2
Make an arbitrary mark at the top of the circle on the perimeter of the circular line you drew. Just a small mark is all that's necessary.
-
-
3
Divide 360 (a circle has 360 degrees) by 5. You should end up with a numerical value of 72 degrees. This means you will be making five marks on the circular line that are 72 degrees apart.
-
4
Use the protractor to make the first 72 degree mark. This is done by drawing a faint pencil line from the center of the circle to the mark you made. Then set the protractor on that line, making sure the center point of the protractor corresponds with the center point of the circle. Also check to make sure the zero mark lines up with the line you made in the last step. Now find the 72 degree mark on the semi-circle edge of the protractor.
-
5
Mark that point and then extend a line from the center of the circle through the protractor mark to the outside edge of the circle.
-
6
Repeat steps 4 & 5 until you have five marks on the circle evenly spaced at 72 degrees apart.
-
7
Draw a line from the top mark to each of the two marks located at the bottom of the circle. Then do this from each of the five marks. When completed you should have ten straight lines that crisscross in the center of the drawing.
-
8
Erase the outside circle and the interior segment of each line. Now, all you should have left is a five-pointed star consisting of ten connected straight lines.

Tips & Warnings
You can also add color to the star once outline is complete.
You can also use the overall shape of a pentagon to draw a five-pointed star.
Never use a pen to draw the circle and lines. Pen lines are impossible to erase.
