How to Create a Niche Website
In online-marketing terms, a niche can be described as a smaller, focused segment of a larger market. Tea would be considered a market. Green tea would be a niche market. Loose-leaf green tea would be an even more focused niche market. Creating websites centered around a niche topic can greatly reduce your competition and send very targeted traffic to your website. The end result can be a nice stream of passive income if you follow the right steps.

Choose your niche. There are a couple of useful tips when it comes to picking the right niche. One is to find what people are searching for online and base your site around one of those markets. The Google keyword tool and Free Wordtracker tool are helpful for finding search volumes. Another method is to choose a niche based on a topic you are passionate about.

Create your website or hire a web developer to create it for you. You will need a basic website structure and design and an easy way to add regular content. You will also need a domain name and hosting, which can both be purchased from GoDaddy.com or a similar site.

3
Create content for your website. The basis of your niche-website model is providing relevant content to online searchers. Your goal should be to add several pages per week based on keyword phrases relating to your niche. As an example, if your niche is heel spurs and someone types "how to get rid of heel spurs" into a search engine, you want to have a page based on that phrase and show up on the first page of results.

Drive targeted traffic to your website. If you create relevant content that is based around keyword phrases you will receive a lot of traffic from the search engines themselves. They will consider your site an authority on your niche and will reward you with high search rankings. You can also write articles and submit them to online article directories such as ezinearticles, or try your hand at pay-per-click ads. These are the ads you see down the right side of a search-results page. You only pay if someone clicks on your ad.

5
Monetize your website. Find affiliate programs that are based around your niche and place the links on appropriate pages on your website. Affiliate marketing is basically selling someone else's product for a commission. You get a special link, and if someone clicks to the merchant's site through your link and makes a purchase, you get paid. You can also place Google ads throughout your site or write your own ebooks about some element of your niche and sell them.
