How to Make a Brochure on a Word Processor
Word processors, such as the popular Microsoft Word and Microsoft Works, allow you to set up a variety of documents, from a basic report or letter to dynamic flyers or brochures. To create one from scratch, you just need to know how to format the page as a brochure and begin adding content. Use the word processor to set up a tri-fold brochure, in which you have three double-sided columns.
Instructions

1
Open the word processor of your choice.
-
2
Set up columns for the brochure. In Word 2007, click the "Page Layout" tab. In the "Page Setup" group, click "Columns." Select "Three" to format a standard tri-fold brochure. Likewise, in Microsoft Works, click the "Format" menu and select "Columns." Enter the number of columns you want and how much space should be between them.

3
Set the margins for the brochure. In Word, click "Margins" in the "Page Setup" group and make a selection. In Works, click "File," "Page Setup" to customize the margins.
-
4
Begin adding your own content once the page is properly set up. Enter text and format it using the font toolbar. If you want to add a picture, insert a file using the "Insert" menu. Fill up the first column of the brochure and then move on to the next. The first three columns will be one side of the paper.
-
5
Insert a page break to form the other side of the brochure. Click where you want to insert a new page. In Word, click the "Insert" tab and select "Page Break" in the "Pages" group. In Works, click the "Insert" menu and then "Break," "Page Break."
-
6
Continue adding content to the other side of the brochure.
-
7
Choose "Print" when you're ready to print the document. Microsoft Word has manual duplex printing available, in which it will print the first page and prompt you to turn the page over before printing the next. If you have duplex printing available on your printer, follow the instructions in your printer's manual to enable double-sided printing.

Tips & Warnings
One of the quickest ways to create a brochure is to use a ready-made template in Microsoft Word. To access the templates, click the "Microsoft Office" button and select "New." Under "Microsoft Office Online," click "Brochures." Choose a template you want to use and click "Download." Now you can customize the template however you like.
