How to Calculate Paving Slabs
If you decide you want to pave over an area of your yard, consider using paver stones instead of more traditional forms of paving, such as concrete. Paver stones will provide the ground with a pattern and can add to your yard's visual appeal. Before you can begin the process of laying down the pavers, you will need to calculate the amount of pavers you need. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Measure the length and the width of one of your paver stones. Multiply these two measurements together to get the area of the stone. If the length and width are both over 1 foot, use feet as your measurement, otherwise use inches.
-
2
Measure the length and width of the area you are paving over. Convert the measurements to the same unit as your paver stone (i.e. if you are using inches as the area measurement for your stones, multiply the length and width measurements by 12 to get their inch measurements). Multiply the length by the width to get the area measurement of the ground.

3
Divide the area of the ground section by the area of your paver stone. This number is the amount of paver stones in that size you will need. Round up any decimals to the next whole number.
