How to Block Specific Websites on a Computer
Some websites contain objectionable material and some websites can infect your computer with viruses. You may want to block specific sites to protect your children from seeing things they are too young for. Specific social networking sites can be blocked if your children are wasting too much time using them. Some Web browsers, such as Internet Explorer, allow you to block specific websites that you do not wish to be displayed. Others require a separate utility, such as Any Weblock, to block sites.

Open Internet Explorer and click on "Tools" in the menu bar.

Click on "Internet Options" from the "Tools" menu.

Click on the "Security" tab in the "Internet Options" window.

Select "Restricted Sites" and then click the "Sites" button. This opens the "Restricted Sites" window.

Type the address of the website you wish to block in the entry box below "Add this website to the zone:" and click "Add" in the "Restricted Sites" window.

Repeat Step 5 until you have added all the websites you wish to block. Then click "Close" in the "Restricted Sites" window and "OK" in the "Internet Options" window.

Tips & Warnings
Some browsers, including Firefox, do not natively allow blocking of specific sites. For Firefox, you can use the free utility "Any Weblock" (which works with all browsers including Firefox and Internet Explorer).
