How to Clean Your Sink Drain With Hot Saltwater
A variety of items, such as food, grease and hair, can cause clogs in sink, shower and bathtub drains in your home. One way to prevent serious clogs in drains is to wash out the drains in your home a few times a month. While there are numerous sink cleaners on the market, spending your money on these products is not necessary. Instead, you can use saltwater as a homemade sink drain cleaner. Does this Spark an idea?

Plunge your drain first to remove debris. Then, grab the gunk that came up out of the drain and throw it in the garbage. You might want to wear a pair of cleaning gloves when performing this step.

Pour about 4 liters of water into a cooking pot.

Add anywhere between 1/2 and 1 cup of table salt into the pot.

Place your pot on the stove. Turn the stove on medium heat, and leave the pot on the stove for about five minutes. Do not let the water come to a boil.

Pour the hot saltwater down the drain slowly. It should take you no less than 10 seconds to pour all of the saltwater down the drain.

Inspect the drain. Flush the drain with hot saltwater again if necessary.
